"Sometimes I say I tame the beast, or I tame the stallion," says Gardner. "I'm so very honored to say that I've never failed in providing new skills and strategies to individuals I've worked with. I really love doing this kind of intervention. Often, people don't believe me when I explain what and how I do this type of executive coaching. It's a combination of education, experience, skills, and experience, and I have so many stories."
Gardner states that in addition to firing executives, often these people are promoted to another department, which simply passes them on to someone else. She states that she lets people know that she does not believe that people will change. They will be exactly who they are and if they want to produce different results with people, they can add on skills and archive the skills that do not produce the results that they want to produce. "Just to let you know," says Gardner, "one client said, 'I don't want to change. I have a vested interest in my dysfunctional behavior'. I replied, 'As well you should.'"
Gardner refers to herself as a storyteller. She states that she shares stories a lot about herself and other people and situations in a confidential manner. By being vulnerable, she says it gives license to others to be open as well, which is why her methods work.
